Why did my email not open?
- The link that opens your mail client has its own length limit. Several mail clients cut anything past their limit and do not tell you. A request for substantiation or a back-charge letter is longer than that limit.
- So YourCA does not open it. A message that stops halfway through the request and misses the clause it relies on is worse than one you paste yourself. Neither you nor the head contractor would know it happened.
- Instead, you get the whole message in a panel. Copy puts it on your clipboard. Download saves it as a text file, for when your browser refuses the clipboard.
- Open a new email yourself and paste the message in.
- The same panel lists any files the letter refers to, with a download beside each. A mail link cannot carry files either.
- Nothing is shortened, and nothing is sent. The words you paste are the words YourCA wrote and you edited.
Worth knowing
The button does not say it opened when it did not. If the screen still says "Open it in my email" after you pressed it, it tells you the truth. It has not failed. Copy the message from the panel. It goes out exactly the same way.
