How do I add an option on the options page?
- Open the Quote tab and press Options on the band. The Add an option press is at the foot of it.
- If the quote has more than one section, it asks which section the option goes in, because an option is a line of a section. If there is only one section, it does not ask.
- You can also add an option from the Quote section. The last row of each section table has Add a line, Provisional sum and Option.
- A quote with no sections yet cannot hold an option, and it says so. It does not offer a press that cannot work. Add a section on the Quote section first.
- A new option arrives described as New option, priced at nothing. Type over the description and type its figure on the row itself.
- That description box is the same one the section table uses. It takes bold, italic, underline and bullets.
- The section the option is in is a dropdown on the row. To move an option you put in the wrong section, pick another section. You do not need to open the quote and find the line again. It goes to the foot of the section you pick.
- A quote with one section shows the section name instead, because there is nothing to choose.
- A quantity, a rate or a cost build-up belongs to the line, not to the register. Set them on the option in its own section on the Quote section. Options says so and takes you there.
- Amount is what you type. If the quote has a margin row, a second column beside it shows how much the option moves the builder's price. YourCA works it out. On a quote with no margin the two figures are the same, so only Amount shows.
Worth knowing
Only a draft takes an option, and you can only type in a draft. An issued revision never changes. So Options says which revision it is, and offers the press that starts a new one. It does not give you a box that YourCA would refuse.
