How do I revise a quote?
- You can edit a draft freely. When you press Issue and download, the builder can hold a copy, so that revision is frozen for good.
- Open Review, the last section of the quote. After you issue the revision, This revision there has the box for a new one. Revisions shows the history of the chain.
- Type what changed into What changed in this revision. Pick the Kind of change. Press Revise.
- Everything carries forward into a new draft with the next letter. The revision you issued moves to superseded, and you can still read it.
- You must say what changed. Revise stays grey until you do. The kinds are Re-priced to new documents, Scope change, Value engineering, Commercial and Correction. A revision C with no explanation makes a builder phone to ask what moved.
- Letters run A, B, C and continue past Z as AA and AB, so a long negotiation never runs out of letters.
- You can revise an accepted quote too. The revision the builder accepted stays the accepted one. The contract value schedule it wrote does not change.
- That stays true until you set the quote back to out with the builder and accept a later revision with its own press.
- A change to the WORK after the builder accepts is still a variation. Raise it from Financials, and cite the quote. Revise an accepted quote only to correct the record of what you offered.
Worth knowing
YourCA refuses an edit because Quote 1042 Rev B must name one document. If you could edit it after the builder had it, their copy and yours would be different papers with the same name. Every later argument about scope turns on exactly that.
