How YourCA works, step by step.

Can I reuse a swms?

  1. On a job with no statement yet, open Prestart, then SWMS, then Copy one.
  2. Search your own previous statements by name, such as hydraulic rough-in.
  3. YourCA offers only statements you have ISSUED. A draft is one nobody finished, and if you start from a half written method, you copy its gaps.
  4. It searches every job you are on, not only this one. An administrator sees every job the business has run. The method does not change because the address changed.
  5. Press Use this one. YourCA copies the steps in order, their hazards, both risk ratings, each control measure, the protective equipment, the plant and the permits. They land on this job as a new draft, revision 1.
  6. YourCA asks the high risk construction work questions AGAIN about this job, and each one starts unanswered. Each answer is a judgement about this activity on this site. An answer from another job is not an answer about this one.
  7. No step names a person as responsible. The old list shows your people on the day it was written. A person on it may have left, and a new starter is missing. Name who is on this job, on each step.
  8. The person who prepared the method does carry across, because that part is still true.
  9. YourCA leaves these blank, because they are about a job and not about the work: how you consulted the crew, the start date, the duration, the supervisor and the emergency contacts.
  10. YourCA works out again which law to cite for the job you copied onto. A statement from a New South Wales job does not carry its regulation numbers onto a Victorian job.
  11. Read it and fill in the blanks.
  12. Answer the questions.
  13. Issue it. The crew signs on to that revision.
Worth knowing

It is a good draft, not a finished statement. Each hazard arrives marked as a draft nobody has read yet, whatever its state on the old job. Confirmed means a person read that line for THIS job. Check hardest that the method still suits this site: same trade, different building. Your practice job is not in the list, on purpose, because its steps and hazards are made up. YourCA does not offer a statement from it here, and you cannot copy one onto a real job.
