How YourCA works, step by step.

Can I upload my own swms?

  1. Open Prestart, then SWMS.
  2. On a job with no statement yet, press Upload yours. On a job that already has one, press Add another.
  3. A job can carry both: one that YourCA wrote for the rough-in, and one that your consultant wrote for the tie-in.
  4. Give it a name the builder reads on the contents page, such as hydraulic rough-in. If you leave the name blank, YourCA uses the file name.
  5. Drop the PDF in. It goes on the job immediately and into the prestart pack, where the checklist shows it as held.
  6. A Word file is different, because it cannot go in the pack as it is. If a company administrator drops one, YourCA reads it in as your standard. After that standard is saved, this job starts from it. Anybody else is asked for a PDF.
  7. Next, a company administrator sees Also keep as your standard, on the same file.
  8. Press it. YourCA reads the method out of your document, so every job can use it from now on. YourCA shows you what it read before it saves anything. Not now keeps it on this job only.
  9. Your crew signs on to it in the same way as to one that YourCA wrote. The sign-on sheet belongs to the statement, not to the person who typed it.
  10. Did you pick the wrong file? While nobody has signed on to it, take it off the job and upload the correct one.
  11. Download the statement gives you back The file you uploaded, exactly as it went on the job.
Worth knowing

YourCA holds the file and has not read it. An uploaded statement gets no readiness list, no high risk construction work questions and no checks. Each of those is an opinion about a document YourCA wrote, and YourCA never opened yours. The pack says so on its face, so the builder knows too. If you want the checks, write the statement in YourCA. It tells you what is missing before you issue it.
