Can YourCA email me before a deadline?
- Open the review. On its step rail, go to Notices and deadlines, or to Calendar.
- Both have the same switch, and it is one setting. If you turn it on in one, it is on in both.
- Press Email me these deadlines. From then on, YourCA emails the address on your account 7 days before each dated deadline, and again the day before.
- The same button turns them off.
- YourCA schedules only a deadline it can give a real date: a date the contract states, or a period counted from the commencement date you entered.
- Some deadlines run from an event that nobody can date in advance. YourCA never sends a reminder for those, because a guessed date in your inbox is worse than no date.
- When you add the commencement date in the same section, YourCA builds the reminders again. Every deadline that runs from commencement then gets its two emails.
- Also export the dated deadlines as an .ics from the same place, and load them into your own calendar. That copy is yours and works whatever happens to your YourCA account. Its alarms are 7 days and 2 days before, which is the calendar file's own schedule, not the email one.
- If the mail service behind the reminders is not set up, the switch says so in plain words. It does not tell you reminders are on.
- On the demonstration account, the switch shows the first email YourCA would send and how many it would schedule. No email goes.
- YourCA still records your choice. The emails start automatically after the service is set up, so you press nothing again.
- The calendar export does not use email, and works either way.
Worth knowing
A reminder is a prompt. It does not replace reading the contract. It goes only to your own inbox, and YourCA never tells a builder anything about your deadlines. If YourCA could not send a reminder for more than three days, it skips it and does not send it late. A warning that arrives after its own deadline is a false warning.
