How YourCA works, step by step.

How do I get my contract reviewed?

  1. Open the Contract tab and drop the contract in.
  2. A subcontract, a work order, a purchase order or a set of them: what the builder sent you is the contract for this job.
  3. With the job open, you can also tell the assistant to read your contract. It then asks you for the file in the conversation.
  4. YourCA asks what you want done with it. Review it in depth, with Read this contract under it, is the one that opens the clauses. The other two are Store it without a review and carrying forward what YourCA read for this builder before. They keep it on the job and read nothing.
  5. The review has three steps and asks you nothing else: your role and the contract pack, then the standard form it is based on, then the terms of use and the button that starts it.
  6. It never asks you to choose a review depth. There is one review, it is the fullest one, and it covers all the passes your contract needs.
  7. The first step is one screen, not a column. The contract name and who it is with are side by side. Your role goes across the width. The state, your trade and the commencement date are in a row. The drop zones for the documents are underneath at full width.
  8. If the contract is already on the job, Review it in depth is on the contract itself, and you drop nothing first.
  9. The confirm screen opens filled in from the job: the name, the builder, your side of it, the state, your trade and the date it was signed. Each one says where YourCA read it from.
  10. The builder and the state you gave when you started the job show as read, with Edit beside each. Change anything wrong.
  11. YourCA still needs the contract file, because it reads the words, not the record of them. The screen names the contract it asks for.
  12. A contract you added on the new-job screen arrives on that confirm screen with the file already in it. So does a contract on the Dash where you press Read it now.
  13. When the review is done, the first line on the Contract tab is the verdict. It shows the risk score out of 100, how much there is to check before you sign, and how many clause risks were flagged, with how many of high severity.
  14. Press that line, which ends in Read the review, or press Review on the section band. The review opens.
  15. It shows the score, the written verdict, the risk register clause by clause with pushback wording, the payment and Security of Payment read, the notice deadlines, the conflicts, the missing protections and every export. A step rail runs down the side.
  16. Press any position to see the exact words highlighted in the document itself.
  17. Every document the review writes is a row under What to do next, with Download on it. That is the risk report, the summary, the marked up contract, the pushback letter, the brief for your lawyer, the signing checklist, the negotiation outcomes and the two notices.
  18. Download gives a PDF or a Word document of the same content. Your documents, at the top of the review, takes you straight there.
Worth knowing

Every derived value has a clause reference and a quote. If YourCA cannot cite something, it shows a blank, never a figure. The verdict line shows only if the current version was actually reviewed. So if a job shows the normal line about one contract per job, nothing has read its current version. A review uses one of the reviews included in your plan. Before you press anything, the last step says which part of your plan pays for it. A review takes about an hour, so start it and come back. Holding the contract is separate and costs nothing. The file goes on the job when you send it, whether or not you have it read.
