How YourCA works, step by step.

Can I put a supplier bill in Xero?

What it does today

Xero only. MYOB is not open for bills yet, so a business on MYOB records what it paid on the invoice, as before. An invoice with no GST shown cannot go: add the GST, or 0 if it has none, first.

  1. First, Xero must be connected under Company admin, Company, then Connections. A Xero connected before YourCA could draft bills is asked to connect again, because what you agreed to then said no bills.
  2. Open Financials, then Supplier invoices, and open the invoice. It works the same for a claim the firm added in its own YourCA and one you added.
  3. Press Send to Xero as a draft bill. The first time, pick the expense account and the tax rate every bill uses, from lists read from your own Xero. The first time for each firm, pick its contact, or add the firm to your Xero under the name on the invoice.
  4. After that, the press puts the bill straight in. The opened invoice says the bill number and where it stands in Xero.
  5. Approve it and pay it in Xero. A payment made there shows on the invoice within about fifteen minutes, marked From Xero.
  6. A payment from Xero is taken off in Xero, not here. Mark unpaid takes off only the payments you recorded yourself.
Worth knowing

If Xero comes back with a total that is not the invoice to the cent, YourCA deletes the draft it made and keeps nothing. Pressing again never makes a second bill while the first one stands.
