How YourCA works, step by step.

How do I record a variation the builder approved for less than I asked?

  1. Press the approval status on the variation row. Choose They approved it. The status itself opens, so you do not open anything else first.
  2. A short form opens under the row. Enter the day they approved it and their reference.
  3. Enter their figure in the amount they agreed.
  4. If they agreed what you put to them, leave that box blank. A blank box lets the register tell a variation they cut from one they did not cut.
  5. The register then shows both figures. Submitted stays as what you asked for. Approved shows their figure, with the amount they took off under it.
  6. Your next claim carries the approved figure, not the submitted figure, so the claim and the register agree.
Worth knowing

When you record their lower figure, you do not agree to it. It is the record of what they said, and the difference stays on the row. To claim the rest, raise a further variation. Do not change this one.
