Where do I see job margin?
- Open Financials, then Margin. Job margin is the first reading on it.
- On one job it shows the breakdown. With All projects on, each job is one row, and the row opens that job's own Margin.
- Earned is what your served claims asked for to date, before GST.
- Labour is the hours your crew recorded, priced under your pay rules as Pay prices them: overtime, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday hours at their own rates. A contractor is their hours times their rate.
- Super is on ordinary time earnings, at the rate in your pay rules, the same way Pay works it out. Contractors are left out.
- Orders are the items you ordered in Procurement, at the price held for each.
- Labour cost, Orders and Other costs list the records behind each line. Sort any column, search, or filter by job.
- To add a cost such as materials or hire, press Add a cost at the right end of the band. Across every job, the form asks which job.
- Drop the receipt or the invoice PDF in Receipts and invoices. YourCA fills the supplier, the date and the amount ex GST while those boxes are still empty. It fills the amount only when the receipt prints its GST. A photo or a scan is kept with the cost, not read.
- A cost can keep any number of receipts or invoices. Press Add files in the cost and pick them all at once.
- An invoice from a firm you engaged counts by itself, before GST, once you add it on Financials under Supplier invoices. A cost you typed by hand for the same firm and amount is counted once, not twice.
- A shift with no rate or an order with no price is not counted. An amber line says how many, with a press to fix it.
- Download gives the same breakdown as a PDF, Word or Excel file.
Worth knowing
Only somebody whose role runs pay sees Job margin, because a small job's labour line shows what one person is paid. Labour and super are estimates, not payroll: until you save your pay rules, YourCA prices the hours under the award defaults, and allowances are not in it.
