How do I turn something I excluded into a variation?
What it does today
The variation form has no list of your exclusions to pick from. So the citation is words you type, not a link YourCA keeps. No document prints Anything more. The accepted revision never changes, so anyone can always check the wording you quote against it.
- Find the wording first. Open the Quote tab, then the revision the builder accepted. Go to Exclusions and clarifications. That is the exact wording they accepted.
- Raise the variation as you already do: Add a variation on Financials, or from Asked to do something on Site.
- In What the work is, the line the builder reads, add that your quote excluded it and name the quote. For example: excluded from Quote 3026976 Rev B.
- Copy the exclusion word for word under Anything more. That keeps it on your own record of the variation.
- The citation does not change the value of the variation, its notice deadline or its status. The citation is evidence, not arithmetic.
Worth knowing
Quote the accepted revision only. If an exclusion was on revision A and dropped from revision B, it was not in what the builder accepted. To cite it would be to cite a document nobody agreed to.
