How YourCA works, step by step.

Why is my invoice a draft?

What it does today

Connecting Xero is not open yet, so nothing goes into your books from YourCA today. When it opens, every invoice and credit note YourCA makes is a draft. That is a rule, not a stage, and no setting changes it.

  1. Connecting Xero is not open yet, so YourCA puts nothing in your Xero today. The steps below are what happens when it opens.
  2. Press Send to Xero as a draft on the Claim pack of the signed-off claim. The invoice lands in your Xero as a draft, and the card says Draft.
  3. Open it in Xero from the invoice number on the card. Check the lines, the retention, the GST and the due date.
  4. Approve it in Xero. The card then says Awaiting approval or Approved, the same words Xero uses.
  5. Send it to the builder from Xero, the way you send any invoice. Nothing reached them before you did this.
  6. The same goes for a credit note YourCA drafts for a short payment. It is a draft until you approve it.
Worth knowing

This is the same rule as the claim itself. YourCA drafts and you serve. A product that sent your invoice would be taking a step in your business for you.
