Will the builder get my job address?
- The address is a way in and nothing more. A person with it can put an email on that one job. They cannot see the job, your claims, your figures, your other jobs or anything else. There is no sign-in behind it.
- Each job has its own address. If one ever ends up somewhere you did not want, it affects that job only, not every job you have.
- An email from an address that nobody on your account said they know is marked From someone new on its own row, on Documents under Correspondence. A button above the list shows you only those emails. The builder's first reply is marked that way.
- When you know the sender, open the row and press I know this sender. That only changes the mark. On this job, that address stops being marked From someone new, on the emails already sent and on the next one.
- It is not a permission, and there is nothing to grant. Every email here reached the job because the sender had the address. Only the address decides where an email goes. The press lets nobody in who was not already in. Pressing nothing keeps nobody out.
- If they are from the builder, press the button beside it instead. It reads They work for, then the builder's name. It clears the mark the same way, and also records them under The builder's people on this job, so a claim or notice opens addressed to them.
- Anybody recorded there is never marked From someone new on that job.
- To take a sender back off later, open the job details. Under the address is the list of senders that somebody said they know on this job, each with a Take off.
- Taking one off does not stop them writing, and removes nothing they sent. It only means their next email is marked again.
- To actually stop an address, change the job address. It is on the same Correspondence section, under Change the address, and also on the job details.
- The old address stops working when you press. Anything sent to it after that is dropped, and the sender is told nothing. Nothing already on the job changes.
- After you change it, put the new address in your contacts and CC that one. Anything sent to the old address is gone, not delayed. A forward from a phone with the old address in its recent list goes nowhere.
Worth knowing
The sender on a row is what the message says about itself. Anyone can type anything into that field. Treat it as a name on an envelope, not as proof, and never as a reason to accept a figure. The address an email was sent to is what decided that it belongs to a job.
