How do I change what an inspection point asks for?
- Open the plan on Site, then ITPs, then Plans.
- Press Change this point under the point. Or press Add a point here on the stage it belongs to.
- In the band called What is being inspected, describe the item and say what a pass looks like. Then choose a hold, witness, surveillance or record point.
- A hold point stops the work until it is signed. A witness point means they are invited, and the work continues.
- The band called How it is answered on site shows eleven ways side by side. Each says what the person at the wall actually does.
- The eleven ways are: a pass or fail, a reading, a set of readings, a written answer, a date, one item from a list you write, several items from that list, a photograph, a signature or a document.
- There is no form builder, and there is not going to be one. Because you choose from the eleven, YourCA can judge an answer the moment it is entered.
- Tick as many as the point actually asks for.
- For example, a hydrostatic test is a reading AND the date it was witnessed AND a verdict. Tick all three.
- Each one gets its own box on the point sheet and its own line on the record. Each one with its own range is judged the moment it is entered.
- The point passes only if every answer passes. If one answer fails, the point fails and raises the non conformance.
- You can tick each of the eleven only once, on purpose. YourCA knows an answer by its KIND, so you never name a field. Naming fields would make this a form builder.
- If a point really needs several readings, use A set of readings. Give it one label for each location.
- A reading takes a unit and the range it must be between.
- If you set both, the reading passes or fails immediately. The person who can still fix the problem sees the result.
- If you leave them blank, YourCA writes the reading down and does not judge it. That is the honest answer for a delivery temperature or a meter reading. The editor says so under the range.
- A set of readings takes one location for each line. YourCA judges every reading against the same range.
- If one reading is outside the range, the point fails. That is why a level survey is taken at four corners, not once in the middle.
- In the band called What has to be attached before it can be signed, set how many photographs, if a certificate or test result is needed, and if a signature is needed.
- None of this stops anyone recording a result on site. It stops anyone signing off the point until the evidence is really there.
- In the band called Who attends or signs it, give their name and how many days of notice they need.
- Tick "They sign it off, not us" if the point waits on their signature, not yours. This is the difference that the subcontract makes.
Worth knowing
When you answer several points together, YourCA does not take a point that has more than one answer. It tells you which point and why. One verdict across a dozen record points on a pour is a real act. A point that also wants a reading and a date has three answers to give, and the batch has one. You cannot edit a point on an ISSUED plan. The plan the builder holds is the plan they accepted. To correct it, start the next revision. It copies every point that is not struck out as a new draft, and leaves the issued plan exactly as it was. A plan offers its next revision once. After that, make the change on the revision you already started.
