How YourCA works, step by step.

How does the weather work?

  1. You do not type it. YourCA looks up the weather when it puts the day together, and freezes it into the day when you close it.
  2. It says where the figure came from: the Bureau of Meteorology station that recorded it, and how far that station is from your site. That is the point of it.
  3. A builder who argues about a rain day accepts that source. A figure with no source has little value.
  4. The rain figure says what period it covers. It is not called the day's total.
  5. The Bureau's rain reading resets at 9am, so rain before 9am belongs to the day before. The diary says so, and does not quietly add it in.
  6. YourCA finds your site from the address on the job sheet, so you set up nothing.
  7. If the Bureau has nothing for that day, YourCA uses two other sources. It always says which source answered.
  8. A lot number is fine. Maps do not hold lot numbers, because a lot is a reference on a survey plan, not a number on a building.
  9. So YourCA drops the lot number and looks up the street. If necessary, it uses the suburb and postcode.
  10. The nearest Bureau station is tens of kilometres away, so the suburb gives the same reading as the driveway.
  11. If the diary still says it could not find your address, fix the address on the job sheet.
  12. Or open the job sheet and use Where the job is to set the two numbers by hand. In Google Maps, right click the spot. The numbers are the first item on the menu.
  13. If no source could answer, YourCA shows no figure. Write what the weather did as a note. Your name and the time go on it.
Worth knowing

If your business uses the site radius, a point set by hand also moves the radius the worker clock measures against. On a job where nobody clocks on through YourCA, this does not matter.
