How YourCA works, step by step.

The builder told me to move something?

  1. On a phone, press the plus in the middle of the bar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Choose A direction on site, the first item on the list. It is on every tab, so you do not have to find the correct screen first.
  3. On a computer, press Asked to do something? on the band at the top of the Dash or of the Site tab. Or press Add variation under Quick actions on the Dash. All of them open the same sheet.
  4. Record what you were told: one line of what was said, who said it, and a photo if you can take one.
  5. Under Who told you, YourCA offers the builder's people recorded on this job in the project directory. One press names the person and their firm.
  6. YourCA keeps the name of who told you on the variation itself. So the written notice still goes to that person when you open it weeks later.
  7. On a verbal direction, that name is the entitlement. If the variation is ever disputed, it is the first thing people ask for.
  8. If you stop halfway through, YourCA keeps what you typed. Open it again and the words are there.
  9. A line says the words are not on the record yet. Press Start again if you want to begin fresh.
  10. Photos are the one thing not kept, and the screen says so, because you must take them again.
  11. The record gets a timestamp automatically. That timestamp makes it evidence, not a memory.
  12. YourCA immediately shows you the notice deadline that the direction started.
  13. Press Write the notice. YourCA drafts the written notice.
  14. Read it, fix anything wrong, export it and send it. If the job holds the builder's email address, the notice opens already addressed to them.
  15. On the same card, Price it takes you directly to that variation on Financials, with its pricing open. You do not have to look for it in the register.
Worth knowing

A verbal direction with no written notice is the most common cause of work done and never paid for. Thirty seconds now makes the whole difference.
