Where do my photos go?
- On a phone, press the plus in the middle of the bar at the bottom of the screen. Choose A photo. The camera opens immediately.
- The photo goes on Photos in the Site tab. There you can add a caption and say what it is evidence of. On a computer, press Take one now on that same panel.
- In both cases, the photo goes against the job and the day, with its own timestamp.
- No signal where you are? Take the photo anyway. Your phone holds it and sends it when signal comes back. Photos says how many the phone still holds.
- Until a photo goes up, it is not on the record, and YourCA never shows it as if it were.
- Attach it to an inspection point, a variation or a diary line, so it sits with the argument it supports.
- There are two kinds of album.
- An album named after a variation, an inspection point, a defect or a diary day updates itself. It holds the photos attached to that record. You put nothing into it by hand.
- The albums under Your albums are yours. Use them for sets that no record names.
- To make one, press New album on the album bar and give it a name. It opens immediately.
- If you use the name of an album you already have, that album opens and YourCA makes no second one. Two albums with one name would show as the same row twice in every list.
- Tick photos anywhere on this job and press Put in an album to file them all.
- Inside an album, tick photos and press Take out of this album to remove them. The photo stays on the job, and every record it is evidence of does not change.
- You can also start from the photos. Tick the ones you want and press Put in a new album. It names an album and files them in one step.
- On a job that already has your own albums, Put in a new album is the last item in the same list.
- On a computer there is a third way. Drag a photo and drop it on an album on the bar.
- While you drag, the albums that take it are marked. If you drop it on New album, you name an album immediately, so a job with none of your own albums still has a place for it.
- If you drag one photo of a ticked set, the whole set goes. A phone has no drag, so tick the photos there. It does the same thing.
- In Everything, each photo names the album you put it in. Press that name to open the album.
- Only your own albums are named. An album named after a record is already on the card, as the thing the photo proves.
- Inside an album, Rename it and Delete the album are on the bar.
- Delete the album deletes only the album. Every photo that was in it stays on the job.
- Tick the photos you want to send. If you tick none, the download is what the album bar shows. This is one way to get a report of exactly the album you built.
- Press Download and choose three things: one or four photographs to a page, with or without the caption and details under each one, and if you want the original files too.
- You get one PDF on your letterhead, with the photographs printed in it.
- Each photograph shows its number, its caption and its date. It says if the date came from the camera or the upload, where on site it was, and what it is evidence of.
- The foot of each page names the job, the day the PDF was made and the page number.
- If you ask for the originals too, the same report comes in a zip with every photo at full size.
- To change a photo, press it to open it, then press Change its details. There you set the caption, where it was taken and what it proves.
- A photo that proves nothing says so on its card. Press that line to open the same form.
- To remove a photo, open it and press Change its details. Remove this photo is on that form.
- YourCA asks first, and the question names the record the photo belongs to. There is no undo.
- To remove several photos, tick them in the same way as to send them. The row of controls above the grid offers Remove.
- YourCA asks once and gives the count. So six bad photos from one morning get one question, not six. Everything you do to more than one photo is on that row.
- One kind of photo always stays on the job: a photo that a signature covers.
- When you sign a hold point, the photos that the signature was given on become part of the record. So the form that would remove such a photo names the inspection point that holds it.
- If you tick one of those into a set, YourCA takes it out before it asks you, and the question says so. The rest still go.
A photo you remove leaves the job permanently. YourCA refuses to remove a photo that a signature covers, and the refusal names the inspection point that holds it. A photo only FILED against a signed point is not held. Only the photos the signature was given on are held. For example, take three photos and sign on them. Tomorrow, take two more of the same point. You can still remove those two. YourCA removes the camera metadata from every stored photo on purpose, because a phone writes its location and its owner name into each file. So the images alone carry no date. The schedule that goes with them is the part that makes them evidence. A photo your phone held gets the date from when you pressed, not from when it sent. So a basement photo does not show as taken in the afternoon. That date is what your phone reported. It is a claim by that phone, not a proof, and the record says so on purpose.
