What do the coloured dots mean?
- A green dot means the job is running. Everything on it is editable.
- A running job says more where it can. It says the same thing in both places it shows: the switcher and Your jobs.
- A dashed ring and a date, such as Starting 24 Aug, is a job whose start date has not arrived.
- A hollow ring that reads Crew left 29 May is a job that reached practical completion a fortnight or more ago. For your plan, it is still running, and every tab is still open. Your jobs offers to wrap it up for you.
- The words are about the JOB, never about you. The Dash says On site when YOU are clocked on to this job today. That is a different fact with a different control, so no job state uses those words.
- An amber ring means it is wrapping up. You are off site, and it costs you nothing to keep. Financials, Handover and the Quote tab stay open. So while you pack up, you can serve claims, chase late variations, record a retention release, file a late certificate and mark an option the builder takes up.
- Site records, quality and ITPs, the programme, crew planning, prestart and new procurement orders go read only, because the work is over.
- A grey dot means it is finished. Retention is released and every served claim is paid. Nothing is left to chase, and the job is a record.
- On Your jobs, a job that has left site stays in the one table, and its status reads Finished. A line under it says whether it is still wrapping up. Pick Finished in the drop-down above the table to see only those. Or search by name, number, site or builder.
- To wrap a job up, choose Wrap it up from its Actions menu in Your jobs. Or open Job details and choose Wrap up this job under Finished on site. It asks first and tells you what changes.
- Only a person who runs Company admin can wrap a job up, because it changes the job for everybody. Job details shows the section only to them. YourCA refuses anybody else who picks it from Actions.
- To bring one back, choose Put it back on site from its Actions menu in Your jobs, or in Job details. Both are for a person who runs Company admin, and YourCA never refuses them.
Worth knowing
You cannot mark a job finished yourself, on purpose. YourCA works out Finished from two facts: no retention is still held, and every served claim is paid. A job stays wrapping up until both are true. So you never file away a job that still owes you, and never lose the screens you need to chase it. Read only applies on the server as well as on the screen. On a wrapped-up job, YourCA refuses these: sign-off of an inspection point, a ruling on a programme activity, a revised safe work method statement, a roster entry, or a procurement order. The refusal says the job is wrapped up and how to put it back on site.
