How YourCA works, step by step.

How do I file the site induction?

  1. Open Documents and go to Files.
  2. New folder makes a folder where you are. Add files puts files into it.
  3. Or drag the files onto the page. If you drop them anywhere, they go into the open folder. If you drop them on a folder row, they go into that folder.
  4. Add files does the same thing from a phone.
  5. Press anywhere on a folder row to go into it. The line above the table shows where you are. Press any step of it to go back.
  6. To move an item, drag its row onto a folder in the list. To move it up a level, drag it onto any step of that line.
  7. Move, on the row menu, does the same thing. Use it from a keyboard or on a phone.
  8. Press a file row to read it in YourCA, the same as a drawing. Download saves it under the name it is filed as.
  9. More, on the right of a row, renames it, moves it to another folder, copies it to another folder, or deletes it. Each one opens in the row, not over the page.
  10. If a drawing came here by mistake, put it on the register from the same menu.
  11. Put it on the register opens the one-document form, with the file already attached. YourCA reads its number and revision from the name. Nothing uploads a second time.
  12. Search looks across every file on the job, in any folder. Each result says which folder it is in.
  13. Search reads file names, not the words inside the documents.
  14. Export the register, on the heading row beside the search, gives every file in every folder as a PDF, a Word file or a spreadsheet. It lists the folder, the name, the kind of file, its size, who added it and when.
  15. It reads the whole job, not only the folder you have open.
Worth knowing

Drawings and specifications do not belong here. File them on Current revisions, where YourCA can tell you which one you build to. When you copy a file into another folder, nothing is stored twice. If you delete one copy, the others stay.
