How do I do a submittal?
- You can still correct a submittal that has not gone. Correct it is beside Mark as sent on the row, and opens the form again.
- After you mark it as sent, the record is what the builder rules on. So that control goes, and any change after that is a resubmission.
- Open Submittals on the Documents tab. Press Log a submittal at the right of the section band.
- Say what you submit and who must rule on it.
- On the day it goes, press Mark as sent on its row. Give your transmittal reference if you have one. Their turnaround runs from that date.
- When it comes back, press Record their response on the row. Give the date and the ruling.
- A revise and resubmit ruling makes a new row. The original keeps the date it went and the date they ruled. A turnaround argument is built from that pair.
- If anything is with the builder, the section opens on With the builder, because that is what you wait on. If nothing is, it opens on Ruled on.
- An empty view says which view is empty. It does not look like a search that found nothing.
- Each submittal is one line.
- Press the line to open it. It shows the clause it answers, the date they said they would rule by, the transmittal that carried it, what they said, and a chase drafted for you to send from your own email.
- Export the register is at the far right of that same header row. It asks which file you want, and writes the whole register.
- The file has one row for each submittal, with the dates, the builder's turnaround in days, the status and what they said.
- Excel is the one to sort and filter. PDF and Word give the same rows in landscape on your own letterhead, ready to send.
- Your own device makes the file, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- The register of requests for information beside it exports in the same three ways. A single question exports by itself as a PDF or a Word document.
- One submittal also exports by itself. Open its line and press Export for a PDF or a Word document of that submittal on your letterhead.
- It shows what it is, the clause it answers, the day it went, the day the review was needed and the status. Once ruled, it also shows what they said and how many days they took.
- Export shows once the submittal is marked as sent. Before that, there is nothing to put in front of the builder.
Worth knowing
If a submittal stays with the builder after the date you needed it back, that is their delay, not yours. But it is worth nothing unless you recorded both dates at the time.
