How do I add a defect?

1. Open Defects on the Site tab and press Add a defect. On a phone, press the plus in the middle of the bar and choose A defect.
2. Say what is wrong. Pick its location (a zone from Locations), who found it (the builder, us or the client), who fixes it and the date it must be fixed by.
3. The first time you add a defect on a job with no defect plan, YourCA asks Add a defect plan first? Press Choose a plan to pick the drawing your defects go on, or Skip. On a job with no drawings yet, it opens the add sheet straight away.
4. With a defect plan, the add sheet opens wide with the plan big beside the fields. Press the plan where the defect is. Drag to move about, and zoom in to place it exactly. The location fills in from the zone you press. The Location list shows the zones on this plan first, and names the plan each other zone is drawn on. Pick a zone drawn on another of your defect plans and the sheet moves to that plan. If it is drawn only on a drawing that is not a defect plan, press Trace it here and drag across it on this plan: the zone is saved on this plan too, and the pin goes in the middle of it.
5. With no defect plan, leave Pin it in the zone on the drawing ticked, and the defect gets a numbered pin in the middle of that zone.
6. Press Add it. The defect gets its own number, DEF-001 and up. Then take its photo on the opened row.
7. Press a row to open it under itself. It shows the facts, the photos of the problem, the photos of the fix and its pin.
8. When you have put it right, press Mark it fixed, say what was done and add a photo of the fix. When the builder accepts the fix, press Builder signed it off, and it reads Closed. A defect does not close without a photo of the fix.
9. If the fix did not hold, press Reopen. It goes back to Open and keeps its photos.
10. If it was added by mistake, press the flag, Mark as recorded in error, and say why. It stays on the list. Nothing is deleted.
11. Filter, inside the search box, narrows the list to open, fixed, closed or late ones.
12. One bar above the list splits the defects into late, open, fixed and closed. Press a part to show only those, and press it again to show them all.
13. On a desk or tablet, Lanes beside List and Plans draws each defect from the day it was raised to its fix-by date, with a red line for today. Press a lane to open that defect in the list.
14. The download square opens the one export sheet: the format, then two ticks. Add the defect plan puts each plan with the defects pinned where they are, and the list gains a Pin column with each pin’s number. Add the photos puts each defect’s photos in, named with its number.
15. To pick the defect plans, open Plans beside List, press More and Choose defect plans, and tick one or more sheets. Each sheet you tick becomes a defect plan: its own copy, so pins go on it and never on the drawing in Documents, the Tender walk or the Takeoff.
16. Plans shows every defect pin on the plan as a small triangle at any zoom: red open, blue fixed, green closed. Press a pin to open its defect. Show it full screen gives the plan the whole window. The plan tools sit on one line, with their own Download for the defect list with the plan.
17. When a defect plan gets a new revision, it stays the defect plan, and the open and fixed pins are copied to the same spot on the new revision. Closed ones stay on the old revision.
